Couple's privilege is a difference in power between a well established relationship and a new one.

For example, if an established couple adds a third person to their relationship, the two established people will likely engage in a different dynamic with each other when compared to the new partner.

This can surface as preferential treatment for the established partner, where the new partner can feel powerless.
